American Idol Tryouts on Jan 29, 2009 in Puerto Rico and New York City, Summary of Episode 7
By Marcus Check out our extensive news articles on American Idol at AmericanIdolHeadlines.com It was something new for the producers as they brought us
contestants performing in both First up in NYC was Adeola Adegoke who was so
self-confident that she would earn a gold ticket that she handed in her work
resignation letter. But she badly stumbled with ‘And I’m Telling You.” The
judges felt for her and Simon himself talked with her former employer to ask him
to re-hire Adeola. And he did. And who says Simon’s heart is like a Then we were in Singing waitress Jessika Baier flew down to Puerto Rico
from From Singing and writing songs since childhood, Jackie Tohn huskily sang “I’m Yours” but then with clear vocals sang “I’ll Do It All.” She still hasn’t found herself own style but impressed the judges to win a gold ticket. Do you remember that little kid in first and second grade
who was always acting up? Always doing something ridiculous to get the
teacher’s attention? Well, we now
know where he is living. He is living in “Wanna be” comedian Nick Mitchell cannot sing without making faces. But he was entertaining enough to perform at a pre-school outing and somehow he won a gold ticket. But here is my suggestion, Nick, when you arrive in Hollywood, do not unpack. Then we have a trio of what I call “paint peeler singers”: Nicole Laraway, Mark Granata, Michael Sconiers. Puerto Rican high school student Monique Garcia Torres auditioned with Christopher, her 9 year old kid brother, standing at her side for support. At age 16, her voice is still developing as evidenced by her renditions of “You Can’t Hurry Love” and “I Turn to You.” She needed to jazz up her vocals but I think that the sweet innocence and total confidence of Christopher made the judges’ split decision tip in her favor with a golden ticket. I hope that her brother comes with her as he is indeed her lucky charm. The last NYC contestant was a season 7 reject, Alexis Cohen, who was hoping that her mantra “Non Yo Ho Renge Kyo” would win her a ticket. But her shallow and forgettable singing of “Like a Prayer” failed to impress. And as last season, she gave Simon her send-off finger. But it was a different story for the last Puerto Rican
singer, Patricia Lewis Roman who sang “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and then
a tender Spanish ballad. She is heading to In all, 9 gold tickets were won in Puerto Rico while 26
were won in Links to my other summaries: Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, Episode 5, Episode 6 Click here to get to more American Idol Links to news and information on AmericanIdolHeadlines.com Check out many of the American Idol contestants CD's from all seasons here!
