American Idol - "Stay Tuned, Idol History Is Made Tonight", April 15, 2009

By Marcus

Tonight one of the remaining seven contestants will head home. Who will it be? Ryan called upon Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert to tell them they were both safe. Next to be called upon was Anoop Desai who has been in the bottom three for two consecutive weeks and once again he is back in the bottom three.

But before any further results were announced, we listened to the amazing voice of a former Idol finalist who has really made it big in Hollywood . That is the talented Jennifer Hudson who has won both an Academy Award as well as a Grammy. Tonight she sparkled singing “If This Isn’t Love.” As an aside note, although Jennifer was not the winner of Idol, she has certainly become one of the most successful Idol contestants ever since she has won both a Grammy and a Academy Award.

Back to Ryan who told Kris Allen that he was safe but Lil Rounds took the second seat in the bottom three. Then Matt Giraud and Danny Gokey stood together to hear Ryan tell Danny that he was safe and sent Matt to the bottom three.

The bottom three were Anoop, Lil and Matt. One would be given a reprieve and it was Anoop who was sent back into the safe chairs. That left Lil and Matt facing the voters decision. But of course, that decision had to wait as we listened to guest singer Miley Cyrus performing “The Climb.”

The final decision between Lil and Matt was about to be made. Who would be sent home and who would make it into the Final Six?   It was Matt would had the fewest of the over 36 million cast votes and now his only chance would be the  “judges save.”

While Matt sang “Have You Ever Loved A Woman” the judges conferred and for the first time in Idol history, a “judges save” saved Matt. He is again among the Idol Seven.

But before too much relieve would be felt, Simon announced that next week is disco week and not one, but two contestants would be heading home. There is no further “judges save.”

And that is my recap written just for you.
