But first we heard American Idol Season 2 winner, Ruben Studdard, singing his newest single “Together.” Humm, I wonder how far he would have gone as a contestant in this rather talented Season 8? Ryan then started making the calls. First was Adam Lambert who was safe. Then it was Matt Giraud who was placed in the bottom three. That was a surprise to me. Called next was Kris Allen along with Lil Rounds who were both safe. Last called was Michael Sarver who was sent to the bottom three and his being there was not a surprise. We then heard the soft fluid duet voices of Joss Stone and Smokie Robinson singing “You’re The One For Me.” If the contestants want to observe how singers feel the emotions of the words to the music, look no further than at Joss and Smokie. Now it was back to the voting results. Ryan announced that Alison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, and Danny Gokey were all safe. That left only Megan Joy Corkrey and Scott MacIntyre and it was Scott who was sent to the bottom three. The three men linked arms as Ryan asked judge Randy Jackson who of three should not be standing in the bottom three. Randy correctly identified Matt should not be there but it was Scott who was declared safe. That left just Matt and Michael to hear the final decision. Now why Megan survived the vote after last night’s dismal performance is unknown to me. She should be standing there with Michael. But no, she was safe. Before we would hear the final vote decision, we listened to a Motown medley by Stevie Wonder as we waited the fate of Matt and Michael. Finally came the announcement that after counting 36 million votes, that Matt Giraud was safe and the singer going home was Michael Sarver. But there was still a chance that the judges would exercise their one and only save for the entire season. While they deliberated, Michael sang “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” which seemed appropriate as he was singing for his life. But he was not good enough. He will be sent home but he will return for the American Idol Tour. And that ends my recap written just for you.
