But the contest continues and tomorrow night one of these ten will be heading back home. The singers are honoring the 50th anniversary of Motown with none other than Smokey Robinson as their guest mentor. Here is my recap of tonight’s performances. First up was Matt Giraud playing piano and singing his own version of “Let’s Get It On.” He may have very well set tonight’s standard of excellence because not only did he perform brilliantly, but he made that song his own. He left the security of his piano and showed his cool moves on stage. He is in this game to win and win big. Call 1 866 436 5701 to vote for Matt. Playing his guitar and singing “How Sweet It Is,” Kris Allen performed quite well with his own growls and feelings that gave him ownership of the song. He does appear to be a little shy and perhaps needs some ego massage to boost his self confidence. Call 1 866 436 5702 to vote for Kris. Anoop Desai sang “Ooh Baby Baby” as if he was singing into his pillow. He lack sensuality and this song is all about feeling physically. Perhaps he decided to take the night off from really working hard and impressing us and he probably can stand doing that once, but after tonight he has to jack it up to stay fresh and competitive. Or ya know what? Maybe he thinks he already is the winner and thus can coast….. If so, “Wake up, Anoop.” Call 1 866 436 5705 to vote for Anoop. Proud papa and family man Michael Sarver failed to understand and failed to deliver with “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg.” He shouted the song; he smiled throughout it and almost appeared to be laughing. Apparently he is just so thrilled to be in the Top Ten that he has forgotten what the purpose for being here is. That purpose is become a superstar. And tonight it was as if his purpose was just singing off the cuff to his kids. Call 1 866 436 5706 to vote for Matt. Slather on the sunscreen and wear that big ole wide brim hat, because the power voice of Lil Rounds burned down the house with “Heat Wave.” Sure it was a little rushed but this woman has remarkable talent. Call 1 866 436 5707 to vote for Lil. Hard rocker Adam Lambert wiped off his lip sneer, removed the nail polish, wore a suit, and with slicked back hair sang an entirely original version of “Tracks Of My Tears.” It was incredible. The ballad sounds were spot on and he is, right now, a star in his own right. His version was so well received not only by all four judges, but the song writer himself, Smokey Robinson, gave Adam a standing ovation. This young talented singer is without question on his way to stardom. Call 1 866 436 5708 to vote for Adam. We can always count on Danny Gokey to give us a solid professional performance and he did not disappoint us with “Get Ready.” He just exudes energy and gets us up and dancing. When he sings, you can just tell that he enjoys entertaining us and gives us his all. Call 1 866 436 5709 to vote for Danny. Last up was Allison Iraheta who sizzled “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” like a molten lava river burning up everything before and after. To think that she is just 16 is not comprehensible. She has such a huge talent that right now tonight she is ready to record. Call 1 866 436 5710 to vote for Allison. And that concludes tonight’s performance of the Top Ten. But now the real work commences with you calling in your votes. And don’t you dare not return right back here tomorrow night for results and my recap written just for you.
