American Idol, February 26, 2009 "The Top 3 From Group 2", Summary of Episode 15

Over 25 million votes were cast to make tonight’s decision of the top three.

The top male vote getter singer as well as the top female vote getter singer will take two spots. Then the next highest vote getter will get the third and last spot.

The evening started with a group sing along of “Closer” which was pleasant but nothing more than that.

Then these three were called up to hear the first vote decision: Allison Iraheta, Jesse Langseth, and Matt Breitzke. Who gained the most votes? It was Allison singing “Alone.” She was first to take a seat and that left only two more stools.

Four more were called up to hear the results: Megan Corkrey, Kris Allen, Matt Giraud, and Jeanine Vailes. Very quickly Jeanine was asked to return to the chairs and soon followed by Matt. That left Kris and Megan still standing. It was Kris Allen who won the second seat with his song, “Man in the Mirror.”

After that, we have just one seat left.

But first we had a guest performer Brooke White from Season 7. This exciting singer performed her first single song which she co-wrote, called “Hold Up My Heart.” And her advice to the contestants was “stay true to yourselves.”

Now, back to the final business of tonight’s show. These five were called forward with just one seat remaining:  Kai Kalama, Adam Lambert, Mishavonna Henson, Jasmine Murray and Nick Mitchell, aka Norman Gentle. Three were sent back: Kai, Mishavonna and Jasmine. That left just Nick and Adam fighting for the final seat. And who took it?

It was Adam Lambert joining Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen.
