American Idol Hollywood Round Three On February 10, 2009, "The Night Of The Big Cut", Summary of Episode 10

By Marcus

It was day four of the week long American Idol "Hell Week" for the remaining 72 contestants. By tonight's end, half will return home to their routine lives dashed of any Hollywood stardom. Who will feel the collapse of their dreams? And who will now compete for the title of American Idol?

Each of the 72 would perform one song with a band, back-up singers and they could also accompany themselves with a musical instrument. First up was Adam Lambert singing "Believe" in a high pitched voice. Then Matt Giraud played keyboard performing "Georgia" with some scratchiness. Jamar Rogers nicely sang "What You Do To Me" while his best buddy, Danny Gokey strongly performed "I Hope You Dance."

An early favorite, Anoop Desai, sang a jazzy version of "It's My Prerogative." And another solid singer was Jorge Nunez.

Because he is blind, Scott MacIntyre playing his piano while singing "So I'm Going Home" did not see Paula's standing ovation for his fine performance. When told of her recognition of his talent, he was beaming.

Texas native Kendall Beard and California girl Stevie Wright both did well. But mother of three, Lil Rounds, just possesses such a natural talent that she shines over the rest of the competition. Kristen McNamara regained some of her confidence singing "Because of You" while Mishavonna Henson is a very natural and relaxed performer.

Tatiana Del Toro, also known as the Puerto Rican Drama Queen, missed notes and ended her song with a fading howl. Alexis Grace along with Kenny Hoffpauer were just okay. But missing lyrics and swallowing words were both Joanna Pacitti and Casey Carlson. Just bashful Jasmine Murray did very well.

Although he was up all night rehearsing and rehearsing, Stephen Fowler forget his lyrics and his confidence collapsed like the housing prices.

Singing comic, Nick Mitchell, aka Norman Gentle, got a lot of laughs as he slaughtered "Georgia." He reminded me of a less talented version of Taylor Hicks.

"I Hope You Dance" highlighted the talent of Anne Marie Boskovich while the voice of Ju'Not Joyner was the easy on the ears.

Kaylan Loyd poor sang "If I Ain't Got You Baby" but Leneshe Young brought smiles to the judges. Kai Kalama can play a good guitar, but tonight his singing was second string.

Meantime, oil platform roughneck worker Michael Sarver had some ending note problems with "Are We Just Friends?"

So, who made it? The judges gave the nod and the following were jumping, screaming and shouting with joyful exhilaration: Lil Rounds, Tatiana Del Toro, Alexis Grace, Jasmine Murray, Joanna Pacitti, Casey Carlson, Stephen Fowler, Nick Mitchell, Anne Marie Boskovich, Kaylan Loyd, Kai Kalama, Michael Sarver, Adam Lambert, Jamar Rogers, Danny Gokey, Anoop Desai, Jorge Nunez, Scott MacIntyre, Arianna Afsar, Nathaniel Marshall, Jackie Tohn, Jackie Midkiff, Cody Sheldon, Matt Breitzke, Felicia and T K Hash.

Now the fighting begins…..and don't forget to return here tomorrow night for my recap written just for you.
